Holidaze 2011

This year went by so fast!!! With so many great and not so great things that have happened. We had our first family Thanksgiving at our home this year and it was a great time. From all the delicious food to the wii hockey brawling after dinner. After turkey day we went to the mountains to get our tree from Bentley's farm like always. Parker had a blast with his cousins and it was good to see Dad and Wesus. Dad grew a beard so he looks like Santa Claus.

The Disney Dream

Ok so it's been entirely too long since our last post and for good reason. We have been EXTREMELY BUSY!!! Most of you know that we got to go on a Disney Cruise with my sisters and their families. After a very rocky... and i mean that literally... start we were treated to outstanding weather and got to soak in some of the best memories yet for our little family. Needless to say Parker had the time of his life. Any one with kids needs to figure out a way to go on a Disney Cruise. The amount of attention that your kids get is amazing. It is everyone on boards job to make sure they enjoy their time. The boat was called the Disney Dream! It was a dream come true. We set sail out of Port Canaveral, had a day at sea, woke up in Nassau, then on to Castaway Cay which was I think our favorite part of the whole cruise. We also got to catch up with some old friends on the way back in a pretty town called Blufton South Carolina. So here are some select pictures from our cruise. I will probably upload the lot of them on Shutterfly or something and link it here so you can go through them all if you want. Stella Day 2011

Every year my Step Brother Sam and sister in law "Flea" have "Stella Day". Its a day to remember their beloved dog but its also a day when lots of friends and family can get together and eat good food and let our pets play as much as possible. This year Flea kicked it up to Epic proportions when she got a freakin pony for the kids to ride on, a bunny to play with and baby chicks to love on... Parker will be smiling for the next week. Which coincidentally is when we will go to our Disney Cruise. So Parker is going to be smiling an awful lot the next couple weeks.

What color where you today?

Parker is in Kindergarten now and he comes home every day with a color that lets us know how well he behaved. Purple is an exceptionally good day. Green is a good day. Blue is a warning. Yellow means a note home. Red is a call home to the parents. So far Parker has received every color but Purple. Lets face it.. He is his daddy's boy and he loves to talk and entertain his class. After a parent teacher conference today we found out that he is doing much better and is clearly working very hard at trying to control his body and his inside voice. This made us SOOOO relieved. So odd that we've had our first parent teacher conference. We also found out that Parker is well ahead of where the school system says he should be academically. This made us even more happy. So we are just going to keep working like we are working and let things work themselves out and not stress so much anymore. AAAAMEN!!!

I cant believe in 1 month we will be driving down to Florida to get on our Disney Cruise. CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!

The Cabinets are UP!!!!!!

Our cabinets are finally installed!!!! We love them. Now we have a lot more work to do touching up where we "thought" the cabinets would be covering the paint... Oh well. Gotta put in the microwave, install a receptacle in the island, mud some holes, put in knobs on all the doors and drawers, finish the shoe molding, get the granite guys to come measure and install our counters...... ughhhhhh will this ever end? For tonight though, we are going to just sit back and enjoy the new cabinets. ahhhhhhh a moment of zen.

Getting this Started

With our recent departure from Facebook we've been approached by several people wanting a way they can keep up with us and our wacky antics. This is the best way we know how. So with that being said..... Here's whats been going on with the Griffins the past month and a half.

The second to the last day of our vacation in Rodanthe we were called by our neighbor who told us our downstairs had flooded due to a leaking toilet. Since that day our life has been a complete blur of non-stop phone calls to insurance agents, mortgage companies, and contractors. In order to make something good of this we decided to use this as an opportunity to make some major updating to our home. We have put in hardwood floors in 90% of our downstairs. With the help of our brother-in-law Kevin and Keith we were able to finish this in a weekend. I cant thank either of them enough for everything they did. As anyone who has done home repairs knows, you start and you find more stuff that needs to get fixed. So we had to replace our back door. Again, thanks to Keith for helping us out with that! This weekend Jennifer and I were given some time to really work on the painting together thanks to Kat and Kevin taking Parker for a night and most of the day Saturday. It has been a non stop busy weekend but we have finished the painting and got the cabinets off the wall and replaced the trouble making toilet. I must say doing all of this is both exhausting and stressful. But it has also been very rewarding and has built my confidence in taking on these projects. So the cabinets get installed this week and we should get the granite counter installed soon after.

In other news Parker has turned 5 and started Kindergarten. Thanks to everyone who came to his party and thanks to Memaw and PawPaw for hosting. He is really enjoying it and he's such a big boy now but he has been having a little trouble with his conduct. He's working on it but lets face it.. he's my son. We are proud of him though even though he cant seem to keep his mouth shut. :-)

Finally on a very serious note. We have recently found out that our Grandma Dot has a brain tumor. This is some really hard news to hear after the recent passing of her son Gary from the same problem. She will be going to Duke to get a second opinion this week and we are hoping this will be something they can treat. She is surrounded by people who love her and is being prayed for but I ask all of you to pray for her. If you've ever met Dot you know she is one of a kind and a treasure to our family.

So finally here are some pics for your viewing pleasure..... :-)
